Facial Implants Can Help You Create the Look You Want For Your Face

Many people struggle to find comfort and pride in their skin and would love to alter the reflection they see in the mirror. Facial implant placement is a type of cosmetic surgery that can help you achieve the look you want for your face. This surgery can help you shape the nose, chin or jawline by adding synthetic implants.

Everybody deserves to be happy and confident about their appearance. However, a perfectly symmetrical face and well-defined contours are a rare gift from nature. Defined facial features, visible contours and natural angles that are proportionate all create structural balance in one's face and give one a more attractive appearance. At Doctor Mohan Thomas Aesthetics, we help you look and feel your very best by helping you achieve your goals. Facial implants can help you create the look you want for your face. Whether it's the result of aging or injury, facial implants can provide a solution to help restore symmetry, volume loss and other issues that affect your appearance. We use state-of-the-art technology to achieve the best results and the highest patient satisfaction. We do this with the help of facial implants that are designed to improve specific contours and gently lift the surrounding tissues. This process has an overall impact on one's appearance, helping one look more beautiful and attractive.

How one looks and feels about their looks can significantly impact their confidence levels. The three fundamental things that can affect one’s appearance are facial bones, skin and soft tissues. The deficiencies in bony structures can be corrected with implants. These facial implants are made up of high-quality materials (USFDA only) and are put under the skin and soft tissues envelope to give fullness in the desired area.

What Are Facial Implants?

Facial implants are made from silicone, Gortex or Medpor and they're placed under the skin in order to give you desired facial features.
The most common types of facial implant surgeries that are performed at Doctor Mohan Thomas Aesthetics are:

  • Cheekbone implants: These are used to give you more defined cheekbones and jawlines.
  • Nose implants: these are placed on the dorsum of the nose to change its shape and contours.
  • Chin implants: These are used to give you a more defined chin
  • Ear implants: These are used to make your ears bigger or smaller, depending on what you're looking for.
  • Chin.
  • Jaw Implants: This helps you with a stronger jawline by filling in the hollows under your chin.

If you're considering getting face surgery in Mumbai, it is important that you know about the process, its effectiveness and the cosmetic surgeon who is going to perform this procedure on you.

What areas of the face can be improved with implants?

  • Cheekbones.
  • Tear Trough.
  • Nasal base.
  • Nasal dorsum.
  • Chin.
  • The side of a jaw (Mandibular angle).
  • Custom made implants for a specific bone defect in any area of the face.

Who is the right candidate for facial implant surgery?

Anyone who has one or more of the above-mentioned deformities and has a realistic expectation about one's physical appearance post-surgery stands to benefit from facial augmentation surgery. Only after a detailed analysis and clinical examination, Doctor Mohan Thomas- one of the best face surgeons in India, will recommend the size and type of implant to be used for you.

Are there any scars from the implant surgery?

Be it facial augmentation or hairline lowering surgery, no surgery is without a scar. But most of the scars from the implant surgery are concealed ones and are placed inside the mouth, nose, or eyelids. In some instances, it may be necessary to place a cut over the skin; in such cases, the cut is hidden within the hairline or in the shadow area of the jawbone. So you can rest assured that your facial implant surgery will not leave any permanent marks on your face.

What are the precautions one needs to take after implant surgery?

You will be advised to take care of the surgery site after the facial implant surgery is over. There may be some bandages or dressings over the site, which can be removed within 7-14 days, depending on the location. Also, you will be put on antibiotics to prevent infection since the implant is a foreign material. The majority of the time, the implant is fixed either by stitches or screws so that it doesn’t get displaced. In case a metal device is used to fix the implant, you need to inform the Radiologist prior to having an MRI done.

Is the implant felt after the surgery?

If you have had jaw implants or implants in your cheekbones, then initially, you may feel that there is something which has been put in. But over a period of time, your body gets used to it, and it is no longer a foreign body feeling.

What is the implant made of?

The cheekbone implants and other implants used in facial surgery at Doctor Mohan Thomas Aesthetics are usually made of solid silicone. This material has its own advantages and disadvantages, and the choice is made by Dr Mohan Thomas depending on the requirement.

What are the risks involved in facial implant surgery?

The professionals working at Doctor Mohan Thomas Aesthetics are highly qualified and experienced medical professionals. We have helped countless people achieve desirable looks and feel confident again. We ensure that everything is well-planned and that nothing goes wrong during the surgery. However, the possibility of risks cannot be ruled out in any surgery. Here is the list of risks associated with facial augmentation surgery.

  • Implant infection.
  • Implant exposure.
  • Implant malposition (Slipping from the position).
  • Overlying skin necrosis.
  • Numbness in the operated area (temporary).

What to Expect During Facial Implant Surgery?

You'll be asleep during the procedure, so you won't feel anything. The doctor will numb your face before inserting the implant and make sure it's in place properly. After surgery, you may feel some bruising or swelling around your face for up to a week or two but keep in mind that this is completely normal! You can also expect some bruising on other parts of your face as well (like cheeks) after surgery; this is temporary but still worth mentioning so that you're aware of what might happen.

An Overview of the Type of Facial Implants?

There are a variety of facial implant options available, including:

  • Silicone. This is one of the most common materials for facial implants because it's lightweight and flexible. It has been used in surgery since the 1950s when silicone was first used by incorporating this material into breast implants. Silicone can be found in a variety of different types, including C-Firma Ultra and Prestige Silicone. They have been designed to last longer than other types of silicone products on the market today (and even longer than titanium). These two technologies work together to provide patients with an ideal solution for their specific needs—whether you want something that lasts longer or moves more easily throughout everyday life!
  • Titanium. Implants are made up of a metal alloy made up primarily from titanium dioxide. They also contain some aluminium oxide and vanadium oxide along with other trace elements such as chromium or manganese. These metals help protect against bacterial growth within your body while providing durability over time without ever becoming brittle like ceramic materials might do once they've been exposed too long under pressure.

How to Prepare For Facial Implants Surgery?

  • Get a good night's sleep.
  • Brush your teeth often.
  • Avoid blood thinners, aspirin and other NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs), and alcohol for six weeks before surgery to avoid bleeding during the operation.
  • Ask your doctor about any medications you are taking that may interact with anesthesia or cause side effects of nausea or vomiting after surgery.
  • Don't smoke or drink alcohol before surgery.

How to Care For Yourself after Facial Implant Surgery?

To start with, take it easy on yourself after the surgery. It's important that you refrain from lifting heavy objects or any kind of strenuous exercise for at least a month after surgery, since your face may be swollen and tender.

  • Avoid alcohol and smoking for the first few days after surgery.
  • Avoid aspirin or ibuprofen for the first few days after surgery because these medicines can increase bleeding from the facial implant procedure.
  • Avoid sun exposure for at least a week (or even longer) because this could cause an increase in swelling near your eyes and on your forehead as well as possible discoloration of your skin around the implants themselves (a condition called hyperpigmentation). If you have questions about whether sunscreen is safe to use in these areas, ask the top plastic surgeon in Mumbai- Doctor Mohan Thomas and he will guide you on the same.
  • Ask your doctor about any medications you are taking that may interact with anesthesia or cause side effects of nausea or vomiting after surgery.
  • Don't smoke or drink alcohol before surgery.

Frequently Asked Questions

Silicone implants can be removed very easily, while implants made up of other materials can be slightly more difficult to remove. If the implants have been removed within a short time after implantation, there is a high chance that the tissues will regain their previous form, but if injuries have been caused to nerves/ muscles or if there has been ingrowth of tissue, then the chances of regaining the old form are less.

Facial implants can be made of a variety of materials. The most common material is solid silicone. In addition, two popular options are high-density porous polyethene, marketed as Medpor, and ePTFE (expanded polytetrafluoroethylene), better known as Gore-Tex. Both Medpor and ePTFE are inert substances, providing better integration with the underlying tissue and bone than solid silicone. However, in the case of Medpor, the implants' integration and ingrowth with the underlying tissue causes difficulty in removing the implant if revisions are needed.

Many Indians have a short chin; as a result, their face looks round and they appear to have a double chin and an ill-defined jawline. The only way to achieve a more defined facial structure which looks oval is to advance the chin point. This can be undertaken by a bony surgery which has a long recuperation time called Genioplasty. Similar results can be achieved through the placement of a Chin implant from inside the mouth without scars. Cheekbone implants can be used inside the mouth to increase the prominence of the cheekbones.

Face Implant surgery cost varies based on the surgery technique, whether combined with any other facial surgery, the hospital chosen and the extent of surgery. Dr. Mohan Thomas and his team only use US FDA-approved materials and Implants along with the International standard of care.
